One of the biggest event Umzimkhulu has ever held was fruitfully launched. It was also used as a platform for tossing. Dlem`s Sport Tournament & Music Experience had been conceived and initiated by Dlems Lifestyle through its Director , Mr. Sibongeleni Dlamini from Umzimkhulu (Ward 15). This well added media launch was held at Umzimkhulu Council Chambers, over the weekend. Media journalists throughout KwaZulu Natal , attended this prestigious and they declared it as one of the first to be initiated by an individual in the sport history of KwaZulu Natal hence its cost implication is estimated to be just above 3.5million.
As a Programme Director of the session,Mr. Victor Molefe (Ukhozi fm) could not find much better words to express his gratitude to Mr. Dlamini for creating such enabling environment in both artistry and sport. Giving message of support, Mrs. Mbhalo (HOD of Community & Social Services Department) reveled that not even this municipality has ever staged an event of this level. Mrs. Mbhalo shared with the gathering that, it on that note that the principles of public and private sector partnership influenced the municipality to partner in this event. Mr. Mamisa (SAFA Harry Gwala District ) express the unshaken support that his organisation has on this concept and also affirmed that as a strategic agency on sport they will be part of this event. From Manqoba Mngqithi Foundation (MMF),Mr. Manqoba Mngqithi who is also an Assistant Coach of Mamelodi Sundowns FC, took the attendees into a strategic impact tournaments of this nature will definately have in Umzimkhulu and Harry Gwala District in general. Nqolo (as he is affectionately known) was very vocal on the importance how a collaborated approach could elevate this event so that it can not die a slow death. He further called upon more stakeholders to deepen their pockets for the sake of Umzimkhulu community. As young man coming from Indwendwe, Mr. Sithembiso “Imot`entshontsh`imali’ Ngcobo who is a former Kaizer Chiefs striker emotionally unpacked what events of this nature mean to an ordinary athlete in Umzimkhulu. He congratulated to community and stakeholders of Umzimkhulu for having people of Mr. Dlamini`s and Mr. Mgqithi`s calibre. Before giving message of support, Cllr. Xolani Tshazi (ChiefWhip), invited Mr. Dlamini to rise for the entire attendees to give him round of applause. Cllr. Tshazi unpacked how the Council of Umzimkhulu is fully behind supporting this event and what role does it play towards the social ills. He further alluded that to the fact that, mathematically speaking a young person is yet to rise through this event. Cllr. Tshazi called upon all participants to remain discipline during the event.
